We value originality, commitment, and receptivity over experience, so as long as you’re confident in those skills and excited about what we’re doing, we’d love to hear from you.

OPEN POSITIONS

WRITERS:

General Contributor

As a General Contributor, you'll be given the creative freedom to write about anything that falls within our arts/lifestyle categories. You'll be expected to submit at least one piece every month, but we're open to many forms of content and want to serve as a platform for you to share anything you've worked on be it art, music, film, or poetry. You're passionate about discovering new, insightful perspectives, and looking at everyday phenomena through a creative lens.

Art Columnist

As an Art Columnist, you're someone who's always on the look out for new fine artists, but is also passionate about art history. You're interested in discussing the events of the art world and shedding light on current themes and concepts arising from it. You'll be expected to reach out to and interview up and coming artists, and be familiar with different art platforms/accounts on the internet and social media to share with PILOT readers. You're interested in a wide range of mediums and genres and will be committed to covering the entire spectrum through interesting and original points of view. Film & TV Columnist

As a Film & TV columnist, you're enthusiastic about watching films and shows of all genres and writing commentary and reviews about them. You're familiar with the technical components of filmmaking and will be able to come up with informative, yet extremely creative takes on what you watch. You'll have a role in getting recommendations to our readers whether that be in the form of a monthly feature or something more out of the box.

OTHER:

Social Media Manager

As a Social Media Manager, you enjoy the process behind creating a strong and original online media presence. You find your inspiration from all different places and are excited about new ways to convey messages online. This position also largely involves more tedious outreach tasks. You'll work closely with the creative director and consider yourself a responsive and present person. This role commits you to being online frequently and would best suit someone who's familiar with most social media platforms.

Copy Editor

As a Copy Editor, you'll review and edit articles before they're published. You will, in fact, have a substantial amount of creative freedom in this role and will work closely with writers to redirect their angle when necessary. You're first and foremost passionate about writing and have a good concept of the process behind a focused and structured, yet extremely creative and engaging piece. This position can be tedious at times so it would be particularly helpful if you are someone who's motivated by aims to gain editorial experience and bolster your resume.

TikTok Content Creator

You’re someone who has experience creating visually interesting and fun TikToks. You’re in tune with trends but also able to think outside of the box. You’re familiar with the settings and creative tools of the app. You’re prepared to promote our latest material and goods through this channel. Moreover, you’re interested in creating your own creative videos pertaining to art and lifestyle themes. This position also involves more tedious tasks pertaining to extending our reach on the platform such as engaging with fellow creatives.

Graphic Designer

As a Resident Graphic Designer, you'll create interesting graphics to correspond with our articles, website, social media posts, announcements, and print issues. Preferably you're knowledgeable with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom (After Effects is a bonus) but if your process doesn't typically involve Adobe programs that's okay too. This position also involves more tedious graphic design tasks like helping to maintain our frame aesthetic across or website and Spotify. Overall you'll work closely with the art director, creative director, and other graphic designers to produce visuals that are interesting and correspond well with PILOT’s aesthetic. Print Designer

As a print designer, you’ll be helping front and center with the designs and layouts featured in our print issues. You consider yourself an extremely creative person- able to take a number of elements and incorporate them into one cohesive, visually interesting spread. You’re proficient in Adobe Suite and have an idea of the more technical aspects of magazines and other artistic publications. You’re receptive to others’ artistic ideas, but are also largely already in tune with and excited about PILOT’s visual aesthetic. Lastly, you consider yourself a very present person and are prepared for the commitment that comes with being a part of a print publication team. Samples of work required- see details in form below.

Website Editor

As a Website Editor, you will be responsible for editing and introducing content to our website. Whether it’s taking on more monotonous tasks like updating certain sections, or developing new ways of presenting material to our readers, this role will suit someone who has a strong work ethic. You consider yourself tech savvy and know your way around basic website platforms such as Squarespace and Wix. Overall, this position requires great communication skills as your primary responsibility will be receiving material from our creators and facilitating its way to our audience.

EXECUTIVE:

Financial Director

As Financial Director, you’re someone who’s interested in the logistical side of independent magazines and collectives. You don’t shy away from monotonous tasks and consider yourself an extremely driven and dedicated person. Specifically, this role will largely entail responsibilities such as budget management and the leading of revenue-driving initiatives. You will work closely with our Logistics Director and Editor-in-Chief and receive direction well. Furthermore, you pride yourself on your communication skills for you’ll be participating in a fair amount of internal dialogue, as well as outreach regarding potential opportunities for us.
